Understanding Our Pricing
We sell our whole and half hogs based on "hanging weight," which is the weight of the hog carcass after slaughter but before it's cut into individual pieces. This is a standard practice in the industry.
Whole Hog: $5.50 per pound of hanging weight. A whole hog typically yields approximately 140-150 lbs of packaged meat (7-10 cubic feet freezer space). $200 deposit required.
Half Hog: $6.00 per pound of hanging weight. A half hog typically yields approximately 70-75 lbs of packaged meat (3-4 cubic feet freezer space). $100 deposit required.
The total cost of your order will depend on the hanging weight of the specific hog you purchase.
What is the process?
- Hanging Weight: We determine the hanging weight of your hog.
- Cut Selection: We will work with you personally to ensure you get your pork processed exactly how you like it. We will guide you through the available cuts and help you make the best choices for your cooking needs.
- Processing: Your hog is processed according to your specifications by our skilled butcher
- Final Cost: The final cost is calculated based on the hanging weight and the processing fees.
